You Can Still Navigate a Wedding During a COVID-Complicated Time
How are couples planning weddings during the pandemic?
We are one year into the Coronavirus Pandemic and it is wedding season. Over the past year, many weddings have been postponed or cancelled, but even with venue closings and changing gathering size regulations, couples are finding ways to get married. As it turns out, couples getting married during the pandemic might be onto something. Rather than focusing on size and appearance, couples are reminded of the real focus of a wedding: beginning a life together.
Here are some ways to still have a dream wedding during the pandemic:
Smaller Celebration – Guests are understanding about couples having a smaller guest list due to the circumstances of Coronavirus. You may wish to send loved ones a wedding announcement in lieu of a wedding invitation. Be sure to include a link to the live stream of your ceremony!
Destination Location – Destination weddings are typically small in nature as the expense of travel can be great and guests may not be able to take the time off required for travel. Travel is restricted, so investigate your location carefully.
Outdoor Event – Many of the wedding venues that did not previously have tents have added them to their locations as a result of gathering restrictions. Even if it is not on the venue’s website, inquire about availability or ask about the possibility of bringing your own event tent. Some unique outdoor wedding venue ideas are rooftops, parking lots (think: outside a brewery) and drive-in movie theaters.
Rotating Wedding – Coordinate separate times for guests to attend your event. Guests may not be able to attend your wedding all at the same time, but it is still possible to see everyone!
Additional Considerations
Even when altering your wedding to include precautionary measures in an effort to prevent illness, it is still possible to spread the virus amongst attendees. Guests may have safety and personal concerns when considering attending an event involving many people. Remember to be flexible in your expectations.
