RSVP Cards: In RESPONSE to your questions (See what I did there?)

I want to take you through some respond card basics. These are some of the common questions I receive from couples so I thought I’d provide the answers here, since it’s likely you have the same questions.

Q: Can we add meal options to our respond cards?

Yes! You can even add cute symbols for each type of meal.

Q: What is that M-line for?

The “M” followed by a line

M_____________________________

is a place for guests to write their prefix followed by their name(s).

Ex: Ms. Kathy Ford or Mr. and Mrs. Evan and Tina Smith

Don’t care for the M-line? Try substituting Name __________________ or simply a line for guests to fill in.

Q: How do we select a reply-by date?

Most venues or caterers request a count of attendees two weeks in advance. I recommend setting your RSVP date three to four weeks ahead of your wedding date. This allows for people to check their work and social schedules and also creates a window for you to check with the stragglers.

Q: Can we do online RSVPs?

Many couples choose to direct guests to a wedding website or email for an online respond option. This is a more eco-friendly option and can be very useful if the guest list includes international invitees (where postage can get complicated) or consists of mainly tech savvy individuals, but a traditional respond card in addition to the online option is recommended for a better chance at receiving those responses.

Q: Do we add postage to the respond card envelopes?

Yes, the respond card postage is the responsibility of the invitees. Including postage is another way to increase the likelihood of receiving RSVPs in a timely manner.

Enjoy the thrill each time an RSVP card rolls in!
