Remember the Thing Behind the Ring!
The holiday season is here! I was away with my husband and dog visiting family for Thanksgiving and we didn’t return until the following Monday. My scarecrow was still taking residence on our fence post, the fall wreath still hung on our front door next to the giant pumpkin on our stoop, Thanksgiving décor still filled the house, and I’m pretty sure turkey still filled my belly.

Four days after Thanksgiving and, already, I felt so far behind! I suddenly realized how much my life is separated into seasons. Not just the four calendar or celestial seasons but as a wedding professional I am faced with different work seasons. Engagement season, Wedding Season, Bridal Show Mania Season (okay I made that last one up, but everything seems to happen all at once and all so quickly)!

Engagement season is here as well. How many of you brides out there got engaged over the holidays last year? There are quite a few of you and there will be many more this year. What an exciting time to be engaged! It’s hard to see beyond the cloud of joy and euphoria glow, especially with the holiday cheer already surrounding you.

Don’t forget to ENJOY IT!!!

You are only engaged once. You have a lot to do when planning your wedding, but don’t get wrapped up in the details. That is what you have wedding professionals for. Some brides worry so much about the wedding that they forget about the marriage and all of the incredible things that go with that.

Whether you will be engaged two weeks or two years before your wedding, remember WHY you’re getting married. Whether your wedding is perfect or a perfect disaster, be sure to enjoy your wedding day because of what it stands for.

I’m sure you’ve heard it said a million times: Remember the Reason for the Season…well, Remember the Thing behind the Ring.

I hope you’ll leave your decorations up as long as possible and make sure the holidays and your time to be engaged don’t pass you by! The stores are already set up for Valentine’s Day but it will not be Valentine’s Day in my house until February, when my snowman decorations will still be smiling in full view!

Happy Holidays!!!
