Don't Forgo the Programs
Forgoing the Programs?  Don’t!

My parents attended a wedding last weekend. The bride was beautiful, the groom was happy, the flowers and decorations were gorgeous, the food was tasty, and the music was fun…but…my parents were embarrassed to find that the woman whom they thought was the Mother of the Groom the entire time was just a good friend.

The mother of the groom wasn’t even at the wedding…Oops!

If you don’t have place cards or menus at your wedding people will find seats and they will figure out what they’re eating, eventually, but if there is one thing you shouldn’t overlook at your wedding it is the programs. Wedding Programs are chock-full of information. The programs guide your guests through the day.

Wedding Program

These are a few topics to include in your wedding programs:

Bride and Groom’s Names
Wedding Date
Ceremony Location

Wedding Party
Parents
Grandparents
MOH & Bridesmaids
Best Man & Groomsmen
Flower Girl
Ring Bearer
Officiant

Ceremony Details (you should go over this part with your officiant)
Order of the Ceremony (ex: vows, rings, kissing the bride, blessing, etc.)
Religious Rituals
Special Customs
Music
Bible Verses
Special Readings (along with readers’ names)

Thank you

Honor Deceased Loved Ones
Draw attention to special items (if any)

Fun
Story of how you met
Trivia about the Bride and Groom
Game to keep kids busy while waiting for you to walk down the aisle (ex: connect the dots, maze, etc.)

Don’t forget: Each guest should receive a program. Parents sitting on opposite sides of their children don’t want to be passing the program back and forth.

The Big Day is about the bride. Okay, it’s a little bit about the groom too. Your guests shouldn’t be spending the ceremony doing the Who’s Who of your wedding!
